Summer break is here, and while you’re likely soaking up time with family, friends, or a summer job, it’s easy to let your fitness routine fall off track. If you’re a Clemson student who’s used to hitting the gym regularly, being away from your usual setup can feel like a challenge. But staying active during summer break doesn’t have to be hard; you just need the right mindset and a few creative strategies.
In this post, we’re sharing easy, effective ways to keep moving, no matter where summer takes you.
Create a Weekly Routine (Even Without a Gym)
Structure is key. Start by setting a weekly schedule that includes 3–5 active days. Even without access to your favorite gym, you can still create a full-body workout using bodyweight movements.
Try this sample weekly split:
- Monday: Full-body strength (push-ups, squats, lunges, planks)
- Wednesday: Cardio day (jogging, biking, jump rope, or a long walk)
- Friday: Core and mobility (planks, mountain climbers, yoga)
Stick to a consistent schedule and you’ll maintain your momentum.
Use What You’ve Got
Your summer surroundings can become your new workout zone. Use the tools you already have. Your backyard is perfect for quick circuits, stairs can double as cardio equipment, and even a towel or beach blanket can serve as a yoga mat. You don’t need fancy equipment to keep your body moving, just a little creativity and determination.
